GCSE Success Across the Curriculum at Hawarden High School

Year 11 pupils at Hawarden High School are celebrating today following the publication of their GCSE results, with success across the curriculum and a number of exceptional individual performances.

More than three quarters of pupils achieved at least five qualifications at grades A*-C or equivalent, while a quarter achieved five or more grades at the highest A*/A classification.

The results also demonstrate considerable strength across a broad range of subjects. Every pupil entered for Biology, Chemistry and Physics achieved grades A*-C.  Strong performances were also recorded in Business, Design & Technology, Digital Technology, Drama, Engineering and Religious Studies.

Mr Simon Budgen, Headteacher, said:

“We are enormously proud of our Year 11 pupils and the results they have achieved. There are some truly exceptional individual performances this year, including a number of pupils achieving ten or more A*/A grades, but what is equally pleasing is to see success across the whole cohort and pupils gaining the qualifications they need to take their next steps with confidence.

“Results day is the culmination of a great deal of work over a number of years. Our pupils deserve great credit for the commitment they have shown, and I would also like to thank our staff for everything they have done to teach, encourage and support them, together with parents and carers for the support they have provided throughout their children’s time at the school.”

“Today is ultimately about the young people themselves. We hope they take time to enjoy what they have achieved and to recognise how far they have come. We are delighted that so many will be continuing with us in our Sixth Form in September, and we wish every member of the year group the very best wherever their next step takes them.”
