We are delighted to invite you to participate in an hour-long ‘learning walk’ around a variety of lessons which are being delivered during the school day. The walk will provide you with the opportunity to see, feel and hear what part of a day looks like in Hawarden High School and to also potentially see your child participating in a lesson. As a school we are committed to strengthening our relationship with parents and using that to assist with driving up standards.
“Families and communities have a much bigger impact on children’s achievement in school than has been realised. Schools that are able to engage with their families and community groups as serious and practical partners in education will be exerting a powerful lever through which to raise standards and improve learner well-being.” -Welsh Government, 2015.
We will be offering the learning walks to take place on two separate dates for you to choose:
- Monday 20th January 8.50 – 10.15 a.m. (Visiting period 1 9.05 -10.05 a.m.)
- Wednesday 22nd January 8.50 – 10.15 a.m. (Visiting period 1 9.05 -10.05 a.m.)
We will be offering tea and coffee upon arrival, with a short introduction to the walk from myself and Miss Gilsenan, Assistant Headteacher. There will be a short plenary after the session and we will be available until 11.00 a.m. should you wish to discuss any aspect of your child’s learning at our school.
If you would like to attend one of the learning walks, please register here.
I look forward to welcoming you to the school after half term.
