Consultation launch – Qualified for the future: the right choice for Wales.
From 2022, what young people learn and how they learn will change. There will be a new Curriculum for Wales that will apply to all learners from the ages of 3 to 16. This new curriculum is designed to give learners the skills they need to be prepared for the future. The first learners who will follow this new curriculum are in Year 5 at the moment (9 and 10 -year- olds). If you would like to find out more about the new curriculum, you can access the Welsh Government guidance document here.
Qualifications Wales is consulting on the choice of qualifications that should be available for learners to sit in 2027 when they turn 16 years old. From now until 9 April, they will be consulting on which qualifications should be available to support the new Curriculum for Wales. It’s important that the whole school community has a chance to have their say on these important decisions, so want to hear from teachers, parents, carers, governor, employers and anyone else with an interest in young people’s education.
Full details of the consultation, including a summary version, are on the Qualification Wales website. There is a youth friendly version available here. If you would like to complete the survey and have your say on the proposals click here.
